DATUM is an analogue watch face drawn the way a part is drawn on an engineering sheet: thin outlines, no fill, nothing decorative.
The hands are hollow boxes with a one-and-a-half unit outline; the black background shows straight through them. The centre is a datum mark, the circle-and-cross that marks the origin of a drawing. Two measuring arcs face each other: battery fills from the bottom up on the left, step count fills from the top down on the right. Sixty minute ticks, twelve heavier hour ticks, four heaviest at the quarters.
Always-on display: the outer ring, the sixty minute ticks, the measuring arcs and the second hand all switch off. Twelve hour ticks, two outlined hands and the datum ring remain.
- Two complication slots: day-and-date and heart rate by default.
- Pure vector geometry, generated from code, so the whole face is a few tens of kilobytes and uses almost no memory.
- Built with the Watch Face Format; needs Wear OS 4 or newer.
Part of a three-face set that shares one grid, one type scale and one registration mark: OFFSET (print), DATUM (drafting) and PLATEN (machined steel).
This design is original. It does not copy, reference or imitate the name, logo or styling of any watch manufacturer.
A measuring instrument, not jewellery: hollow hands on a drafting datum.
