This mountain rescue watch face borrows its look from the maps that search teams carry: faint topographic contour lines, a crosshair grid through the center and a scale of fine ticks along both axes. Nothing on it is there just for decoration.
Map legend
Charcoal: the terrain, with contour lines in slate grey.
Signal red: the edge of both hands, the marker at 12 and the tip of the second hand.
Off-white: the minute track and the inlay of the hands, so the time stands out from the map.
Three data fields
Ringed fields sit on the crosshair at 12, 9 and 3. The top one is the main field and is meant for weather; out of the box it shows sunrise or sunset, with steps on the left and watch battery on the right. Every field accepts short-text complications from your watch, so you can swap in weather, heart rate or your next event in the watch face editor, depending on what your watch offers.
The hands
Wide, high-visibility hour and minute hands with a red outline and a cream center, made to be read in one quick glance, even in flat alpine light. A slim second hand with a red tip sweeps smoothly across the grid.
Always-on display
The map fades back to a trace, the second hand is hidden, and the hands and data fields stay readable while the screen saves power.
For hikers, ski tourers and climbers: a mountain rescue watch face that looks like a working outdoor tool, not a piece of jewelry.
