== Accessibility Service Disclosure ==

Speechify's Voice Keyboard uses the Android AccessibilityService API so you can dictate into any app. Android provides no other API that lets a third-party app detect which text field you are focused on or insert text into another app.
Speechify uses the AccessibilityService API exclusively to:
• Detect text field focus, so the Voice Keyboard bubble appears when you tap an editable field and hides when you leave it.
• Insert dictated text into the field you are using, without replacing your keyboard.
• Read a small amount of text around the cursor, any selected text, the app name and field type, and send this to Speechify to improve transcription accuracy.

Speechify does not use the AccessibilityService API to read, collect, store or share content from other apps outside of active dictation, and never uses it for advertising or analytics. The permission is optional, you enable it yourself in Android Settings, and you can turn it off at any time.

I hate being forced through a tutorial at the beginning. Even if this app was for non-tech-savy users, I'm then never gonna recommend it to them because then I would have to do that attrocious set up for them and I just won't. Also, I don't want the listening to be interspersed with a tonne of waiting. Allow me to upload a bunch of articles and come back to them when they're ready to be listened to. Not make me wait one by one.

The voices for the app are good and the flow is the best on offer plus it reads kindle books unlike a lot of other apps BUT it often skips whole sentences, mispronounces simple words (like 'was' or 'I'll') and there a feature called Enhanced skipping in beta testing that you can't turn off because of a glitch and it makes the reading buffered and choppy. Thanks to the negatives (which are pretty big imo) I've ended my subscription and using the free version.

When will in-menu integration be arriving? Everything is very clunky, having to open the app and paste text, etc. I want to be able to highlight text, select text using my long-press menu (Select All, Copy, etc.), and have a Speechify icon there to automatically dictate the text that I've highlighted. This feature is a no-brainer at the moment. This app is extremely limited without integration into native UI. At the very least, there should be an option for a floating bubble as per Wispr.
