genuinely, the best flashcard app. initially it feels complicated, but once I knew how the settings worked, it's super minimalist, no fancy colours and distractions, easy to study as well as easy to add cards. this is the first time I'm writing an app store review but it's unbelievable that this is available with no cost and no ads. (ads are the last thing you want when you're trying to study and focus!)

Despite being a bit confusing to navigate and not really modern-looking, AnkiDroid is an INCREDIBLY good tool for writing and memorising flashcards. You get straight to the point, you see your statistics and how long you studied and it's easy to create flashcards and decks (there's also no ads or subscription, unlike some (Quizlet) other study apps). The only negatives are that you can't really study flashcards that the system thinks you've mastered, and some settings are really confusing.

We're getting more modern-looking! Settings -> New study screen. I'm working on a new 'Browse' screen, and working away at the code to eventually get the Deck Picker up to scratch (probably one for 2027 - we're all volunteers). Cheers for the rating! -- David

Programmable flashcards and an easy interface make Anki a great addition to any learner's repertoire. If you're familiar with HTML and have multiple devices, expect to get a lot out of this. Adore the add-ons too! I'm learning Mandarin, and the community around Anki has helped me make more progress than I would virtually anywhere else. The spaced repetition-based interface helps me a lot, though I should stress that it's not a substitute for, say, textbooks and creative use of language.
