Roots Workplace Challenge

Turn your everyday journeys into a team game with the Roots Workplace Challenge.

Roots is a friendly movement game for you and your colleagues. Walk, run, cycle or wheel between Beat Boxes on the map, collect points and help your workplace team climb the leaderboard. Every journey counts, however short.

HOW IT WORKS
• Find a Beat Box near you on the map and head to it.
• When you're close, slide to collect. This starts your journey and a 60-minute timer.
• Reach another Beat Box before the timer runs out to earn points for both, and the timer starts again.
• Keep going for as long as you like. Every Beat Box you reach adds to your points and your team's total.

DISCOVER HIDDEN GEMS
While your journey is running, look out for Hidden Gems: special local places to discover. They're collected automatically when you reach them, and each one has a story to read. Every Gem you collect earns Gem points, which are added to your score on the Gem leaderboard. Can you collect them all?

PLAY AS A TEAM
• Join your workplace team and see how you compare on the Players, Teams and My team leaderboards.
• Switch between Beat Box and Gem points to see who's leading each one.
• Teams are ranked by total points or by average points per member, so every team has a fair chance.

TRACK YOUR PROGRESS
• See your points, Beat Boxes visited and miles covered, for you and for your team.
• Look back at past journeys, beat your records and build your playing streak.
• Unlock awards as you play, including Green Commuter awards for active journeys to and from work.
• Look out for Lucky Taps and Bonus Beat Boxes during special events.

FOR EVERYONE
Roots is for people of all ages and abilities. Walk, run, cycle, wheel or use a mobility scooter. Go at your own pace, take breaks and play in a way that suits you.

YOUR PRIVACY
Other players never see where you are. They only see your display name, avatar and points on the leaderboards.

Roots uses your location to show you on the map and to collect Beat Boxes and Hidden Gems. Background location keeps your journey working while your phone is in your pocket. Motion data lets Roots pause GPS while you're still, to save battery.

Please play safely. Stay on public paths, look up from your screen while you move, and exercise within your limits. If you have a health condition, check with your doctor before starting a new activity.
