this was my favourite music app until this most recent update. I use it while driving in split screen view to see what song is playing, and this update renders split screen use virtually impossible. I can now only see a sliver of the album art, no song title or artist information. it's a real shame because I loved oto before now, but it just doesn't work for me any more.

One issue I have with the new update is how the search feature now works. Before, if you searched the tagged artist name, all songs with that name in the "artist" field would appear, but now, only stuff in the title or filename of the songs allows you to search for them. For example, if I had a tagged file for "Apricot" by Katy Perry (fake example) and the filename was "01. Apricot.mp3", searching for "Katy Perry" wouldn't show the song in the results. Please fix.

Great app, simple to use and hassle free. Nothing is intruding on the experience if you want to use the app for free, nor is basic functionality paywalled, the payment is a single payment (very welcome!) and unlocks some neat features and UI changes. Love this app and I use it everyday as I'm often with no or patchy signal, plus it's great to save data/money.

What’s new

• New playback engine, rebuilt on FFmpeg — more formats (Dolby, DTS), true gapless, crossfade, faster seeking, cleaner bass
• Lyrics light up word by word, with background vocals tucked under the line they answer
• New Editorial Blur theme — your artwork as a drifting, blurred backdrop
• Cast almost any audio format, and no more stalling at the end of a track
• In-app updates — download in the background, install on a tap
• Fixed the tag editor rewriting an untouched year
