How each type of clue works is clearly explained and supported by examples, with simple diagrams to illustrate key ideas.

Each topic is followed by interactive exercises and practice clues designed to reinforce the learning points, and each chapter ends with a practice puzzle to consolidate your learning.

The final chapter explains how to develop your solving skills further. It ends with a selection of newspaper puzzles and is followed by an extensive set of reference tools to use when solving.

I just want to thank the tutor(s) on this app. I find it not just informative but the way it takes you through each clue type in bitesize chunks. After this it gives examples and then lets you try. I'm so pleased to finish a crossword with 3 types of clues today and there's still plenty more to learn. I know that I'll be taken through the rest of the formats bit by bit and then will be able to complete even more complex crosswords. Really enjoyable and fulfilling. Perfectly pitched! Thank you!!

I'm giving this 5 stars preemptively because it has been thorough for the first two chapters. This app seems to be targeted at "British style" crosswords. As someone that does only the "American" variety and understands very little British vernacular, it has still been very helpful in opening my eyes to the vague clues that often prevent me from finishing "weekend puzzles" (although it has done nothing for my lack of pop-culture knowledge).

Excellent tutorial on how to solve cryptic crosswords. Someone had tried to teach me some years ago, so I had the basics but this is great. There are tutorials in chapters, (which make it easy to go back and re-read something you arent clear on) with examples and then you get some practice. I am not finished going through all the chapters yet, but I cant wait to get a book with cryptic puzzles to put the lessons to use. This is the first app I have paid to unlock more features, but was worth it.
