Navigation and route planning that’s always there for you.

Explore the outdoors with confidence.
Plot walking routes, plan hikes, runs, and bike rides with ease.

However you move, and wherever you are, the OS Maps app is your ideal GPS navigation companion, trusted by hikers, walkers, runners and riders across the UK and beyond.

Navigation for any route, anytime, anywhere:
Rely on accurate footpaths, detailed hiking maps and dependable route planning with Britain’s gold-standard national map service. Plan walking routes to explore, curate training runs, and use it as a cycle tracker to scope out bike rides across every accessible road, footpath and landscape in the country.

Stay on course when you’re offline:
Worried about getting lost without mobile signal in a remote location? Worry no more. Every one of our comprehensive maps (covering the whole of Great Britain) and all of your hiking trails can be downloaded to the app for offline use and can also be printed onto paper for a reliable hard-copy backup.

Sync to your devices with ease:
Make your route planning work the way you want to travel, by synchronising your activities across mobile, desktop, devices and Wear OS. Every route you create in the app can be converted into a GPX file and exported into your choice of navigation device and platform, with compatibility for Garmin, Strava, MapMyWalk and more.

Track your goals:
OS Maps can be your dependable one-stop stop for outdoor fitness and wellbeing tracking. Log every walk, hike, ride and run you do, build up a journal of all your key achievements, and follow and share with your family and friends.

Know the path ahead:
Unlock the unrivalled retail and accuracy of OS Explorer maps at 1:25,000 scale, and the OS Landrangers series at 1:50,000, with a subscription. You’ll also gain desktop access to our 3D Aerial Layer fly-throughs, allowing you to explore landscape and terrain in stunning 3D.

Go global:
Explore and exercise with confidence all over the world, with full global mapping, and topographic mapping for the United States, Australia and New Zealand, as well as the UK.

Saving you stress - and saving your battery:
Regular app updates mean that we’re constantly improving the effectiveness and user-friendliness of the OS Maps app, while also limiting the impact that regular GPS use can have on your mobile device’s battery life. That way, you can explore with confidence for longer than ever before.

Tried and trusted by the experts:
OS Maps is the recommended app of Mountain Rescue England & Wales, making it a dependable way to keep safe when exploring new areas. We’ve also got thousands of ready-made, expert-designed routes to explore from Trail, Country Walking, Mountain Bike UK, BBC Countryfile, and more. It’s why OS Maps has been voted the Great Outdoor App of the Year seven years running, and is also an award-winner with Yahoo Sports Technology, Singletrack, and the Outdoor Industry Awards.
