Great app, most especially if used in North America. Be wary of believing every id, but as it says "on the tin" they are suggestions, and to be fair, they are very often accurate. Biggest negative for me is there is no option to automatically save your recordings. The app defaults to deleting them. Would be great to have the individual option to change that. Have unintentionally lost far too many recording sessions for it to be ignored, but in the heat of the moment I'm still losing far too many

As Alexander Hamilton says this app in a previous version used to be reliable wherever you had a mobile signal. In order to use it away from that you had to "preload " a checklist. As I always knew where I was going and rarely went to areas where there was no signal tho app worked perfectly for me. This new version is supposed to revert to a basic list if you have a poor GPS signal ( which can and does happen in areas where you had a great signal 5 minutes ago, all day the previous day , etc....i.e. there is no way of knowing when you're going to get a good signal. 9 times out of ten it reverts to a UK list in the UK, ad then you can choose one that suits your purpose from previous locations , or use the full UK list. It is te tenth out of ten yhay is the problem. Sometimes when toy are not getting a good signal it sticks on "Waiting for GPS accuracy" , which it is meant to leave after 15 seconds if you aren't getting a signal..and an hour later you still can't get past that, even if you come completely out of ebird and start from scratch. Just as suddenly it can start working again.Occasionaly it gets to "waiting for GPS accuracy" , goes until your phone dims and when you turn on the screen again just crashes ebird and you can then try again. If you are putting multiple lists on , because it uses GPS, it is a huge drain on the barttery compared to the previous version , but that is only a worry if you're putting 30 or more lists on in a day. My verdict is "should be a lot better" I still use the app , but it can be infuriatingly frustrating at times , and sometimes reversion to pen and paper is necessary as it just won't work. I love e-bird and wish they'd ge this app working properly

I was excited to get on board ebird after many references to it, but my goodness does it make no sense. Took a long faff to finally get in to it and then presented with meaningless screens of nonsense. Lists of birds in my area but no photos of what they look like. Something about checklists and submitting checklists? Life targets and needs alerts? I'll stick to randomly seeing birds and keeping my sanity.
