Wristshade: Privacy Dimmer

Wristshade puts a dark shade over your Wear OS watch screen, so the people next to you can't read your messages, notifications or apps. Dim it a little on the train, a lot in a meeting, or black the screen out completely in one tap.

Dimmer
- Dims the whole screen from 0 to 95%, over every app and the watch face.
- Touches still work while the dimmer is on, so you keep using your watch as normal.
- Set the darkness with the slider, or turn the rotating bezel or crown on the Wristshade screen.
- Your darkness level is remembered.

Panic Blackout
- One tap turns the screen fully black and blocks touches, so nothing shows and nothing is pressed by accident.
- Tap anywhere, or turn the bezel or crown down, to go back to your dimmer level. This works over any app.

Quick Tile
- Add the Wristshade tile and tap it to turn the dimmer on or off without opening the app.

One-time setup, on the watch
Wear OS gives apps one way to draw over other apps: the Accessibility Service API. The first time you open Wristshade, it explains exactly what it does and what it never does. Tap Agree, then turn on Wristshade in Settings > Accessibility. No computer, no phone app and no developer settings are needed. You can turn it off in the same place at any time.

Private by design
- The accessibility service only draws the dark layer. It does not read, record or share what is on your screen, what you type or what you tap.
- No internet access, no account, no ads, no analytics. Wristshade collects no data.
- Wristshade is not an accessibility tool.

Good to know
- For Wear OS watches with Wear OS 3 or later. Standalone: no phone app needed.
- The bezel or crown changes the darkness only on the Wristshade screen. In other apps they keep scrolling as normal, because Wristshade never takes over another app's scrolling.
- The always-on (ambient) screen is not dimmed, so you can still read the time at a glance.
- Wristshade darkens what is shown on the display. It does not change your brightness setting.
